The Story of Mango Tango Farm
From tech career to organic farming—a journey of passion and resilience

From Philadelphia to Pine Island
A tech career turned farm dream
I grew up in Philadelphia and studied Computer Science at Temple University, then continued my studies at the University of Pennsylvania. I spent over twenty years building a successful tech career in Dallas, but something was always calling me back to the land. My passion for agriculture and tropical farming inspired me to make a bold move in early 2022. I left the corporate world and relocated to Pine Island, Florida, where I took over a farm from a retired nurseryman. The farm was formerly known as Mango Tango—a name that stuck because it perfectly captures the spirit of what we do here. Every morning I wake up surrounded by mango trees, and I'm reminded why I made this journey. This isn't just a business; it's a lifestyle rooted in values I believe in deeply.
Building Back Stronger
How adversity became opportunity
The summer of 2022 brought Hurricane Ian, one of the most devastating storms in recent Florida history. The hurricane caused widespread damage to the majority of our fruit trees—a heartbreaking blow to a business just beginning to take shape. Rather than being discouraged, we've embraced the challenge as an opportunity to build back better. The restoration of our fallen mango trees is a multi-year project that we're committed to seeing through. Each season we're replanting, nurturing new growth, and learning from the experience. This journey has taught me resilience. Every mango you buy directly supports our recovery and helps us restore the farm to its former glory. We're not just growing mangoes; we're rebuilding our community.

Growing the Way We'd Feed Our Own Family
Standards we live by
Organic farming is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that the quality of the soil, the integrity of our farming practices, and the purity of our fruit are inseparable. While we don't have formal organic certification (the costs are prohibitive for a small farm like ours), we maintain the same rigorous standards as certified operations. We don't use synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Instead, we rely on natural soil management, composting, and sustainable practices that have been proven to produce the healthiest, most flavorful fruit. When you eat a mango from our farm, you're eating the same quality fruit we'd serve to our own family. That's our promise.
Leading the Way as a Woman Farmer
Building opportunities in agriculture
As a woman-owned and operated enterprise, we're proud to be part of a growing movement of women farmers transforming agriculture. Running this farm as a woman comes with unique challenges, but it also comes with incredible opportunities to lead authentically and build something meaningful. We're committed to supporting our community and proving that women have just as much to contribute to agriculture as anyone else. Our success is not just about growing mangoes—it's about growing opportunities for ourselves and other women in farming.

Growing the Future
What comes next
As our orchards recover and mature, we're envisioning a farm that's not just productive but also a beacon of sustainable agriculture in southwest Florida. We want to expand our mango varieties, introduce new seasonal offerings, and create more direct connections with customers who care about where their food comes from. The next few years will be crucial for our recovery and growth, but we're excited about the future. Every challenge we've overcome makes us more determined to succeed. We're not just farming; we're building a legacy.
